One-Hit Wonder

I want to be a one-hit wonder,

A man that will give you a glimpse

Of something more,

But not enough to leave you wanting it.

Just something you'll look back on when you're 30

And wonder what could've been.

I'll give you everything,

Just until the sun rises.

I'll keep watch for any nightmares as you sleep

Because I seem to be too scared of my own.

Whisper all of your troubles into the crevice of my neck

As you drift off in my arms.

They'll be the only things that linger,

Along with the faint smell of your perfume.
